HUNTINGDON, Pa. — The Isett Heritage Museum, now under the stewardship of Juniata College, will host an open house from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 11, to welcome guests for the 2025 season.

“We are excited to continue the legacy of historical preservation and hands-on learning entrusted to Juniata by the Isett family. A tremendous amount of work has been undertaken in the past months to complete the transition of the museum and to assess the operations and inventory,” said James A. Troha, president of Juniata College. “Our goal is to continue to engage with the Huntingdon community and broader Huntingdon County region while exploring new opportunities to utilize the museum and property for greater community access.”

Open house guests are invited to explore the exhibits free of charge, enjoy refreshments from Sunset Slush and Doan’s Bones (available for purchase), and learn about local history from Fred Lang of the Huntingdon County Historical Society.

The museum will be open from 4-7 p.m. on Fridays and 1-4 p.m. on Saturdays during the first and third weeks of each month, with guided tours available. Admission is by donation. The 2025 season will conclude with a celebration of local history and heritage to coincide with Free Museum Day on Saturday, September 20.

Located at 11941 Stone Creek Ridge Road, Huntingdon, Isett Heritage Museum showcases a collection of 40,000 historical artifacts connected to Huntingdon County and the local community. With exhibits from the 1800s to the present day, the museum was founded in 2001. Since its founding, the museum has focused on providing families with accessible, educational, hands-on exhibits. The Isett Family, in partnership with Juniata College, announced the donation of the museum and surrounding property to the College in April, continuing the educational legacy of the late Melvin and Beulah Isett.
