Policies
It is the student's responsibility to be attentive to the course syllabus and successfully complete the course materials prior to the end date. Any concerns about course completion should be communicated to the instructor as soon as possible.
COURSE LIMIT: Summer and Winter Term courses are taught at an accelerated pace. Current students may register for no more than two courses per session during Summer Term and no more than one course in Winter Term. Incoming first-year students and dual-enrollment high school students may register for no more than one course in each Summer Term session and no more than one course in Winter Term. Students wishing to enroll in more than that should contact the Registrar at registrar@juniata.edu.
COURSE DROP: Students may drop a course up to the published drop date and receive full reimbursement. Students must email the course instructor and the Registrar's Office at registrar@juniata.edu to drop a course. Dropped courses do not appear on a student's transcript.
COURSE WITHDRAWAL: Students may withdraw from the course from the day after the drop date until the course withdrawal deadline that is specified in the course syllabus. NOTE: Each course's withdrawal deadline varies, so be sure to check the syllabus. Students must email the course instructor and the Registrar's Office at registrar@juniata.edu to withdraw from the course. The course withdrawal will be noted on the student's transcript with a W, however the W does not impact the cumulative GPA. Lack of participation/log-on is not considered course withdrawal and will result in a final grade of F. Students will be refunded course tuition and fees on prorated basis.
AUDIT: Summer and Winter Term online courses may not be audited.

Work Load: What to Expect
The following equation will help you determine the hourly amount of time that will be required for your online course:
(15 weeks per semester * number of credits * 1 in class hour) + (15 weeks per semester * 2 out of class hours * number of credits) = semester long time commitment. For a 3-credit class, this equation would equal 135 hours.
For condensed courses (courses offered in less than 15 weeks), take the total of the equation above and divide by the number of weeks you have to complete the work. For a 3-credit course offered in a four-week time frame, you should expect to spend approximately 33-34 hours per week on the coursework.
